Farmhouse dresser Completed!

Yesterday I shared with you some before pictures of my horrendous  Design challenged Farmhouse Buffet. Well I finally have it finished and Can't wait to share with you the "after" pictures.
After struggling to remove all that lovely linoleum from both the top of this beauty and the insides of the drawers..I decided it was just easier for the drawer bottoms to be replaced. So having the best husband in the world, I just handed that little project over to him and he had that done in no time :)

I then proceeded to strip away a TON of paint. There was that yellow and orange, then green and beige..several layers of white and finally a metallic Bronze.
Trust me when I say there were times during this process I seriously wanted to just paint it and get it out of the house. The paint was THAT hard to get off! But I wouldn't let my standards drop for this piece...after all I couldn't let one little buffet get the best of me. I'm stronger than that...cough cough. Ok, so maybe it was just my stubborn nature that made me finish this thing :) (not that I'm admitting to being stubborn).

So do you like? I LOVE this. It turned out better than the picture I had in my mind. And you just know my mind is a scary place at times ;)
So remember this before pic? Or you can read the whole story HERE
Scary stuff!
 And the AFTER!
I'm pleased.

  2. This is lovely! Who would have known that gorgeous wood lived under the linoleum?

I'm a new blogger, too. It's a weird, but fun, process!

  3. What color did you paint the piece and waxed or glazed with what. It turned out lovely Would like to duplicate the same look on some light oak bedroom furmiture.

  4. I'm not exactly sure of the colour of the paint as it was an "oops" paint from Lowes. (I love that stuff!) Then to get that aged look I dry brushed on some stain and sealed it all with a rub on poly. I'm not privy to all the wonderful waxes the people in the states have. :( I keep looking though. Would love to know where everyone buys it from. I often go to Michigan (our cottage is a short drive from the border).

  7. HAHA, that before made me laugh because it looks about like the examining table in my kid's doctor's office. No joke! Their office is soooooooo old school. Anyways, love your redos - feel free to link any of them up to Trash 2 Treasure Tuesdays on Kammy's Korner! :)
