Quality Pieces

I will pick up just about anything I find to redo. Sometimes it is just because I like the piece or the price. Lets face it, I'm rather cheap ;)
I think most of us who do this, love the work, love the discovery and love the process, but we also love the deal!
Lately though, I've been finding some real quality pieces...and those just thrill me!

Remember this little beauty?
I picked her up at a yard sale about a month ago. It was in great shape, and only a bit of the veneer on the one side was loose, not chipped, but loose.
I glued it back and started work.
The top had no veneer (I love when that happens).
I kept trying to picture this natural...but it wasn't working for me. Colour choice has always been one of the hardest things for me. Sometime inspiration hits and I can clearly see the end product, but sometimes I struggle with it.
So after cleaning it up, sanding it down I primed it. (sometimes just doing that gives me a better idea)
It did..So out came my teal paint.
And this is what I came up with.
This beauty had two tops on it. I find some of the higher end pieces are like that, and normally I will stain both, but this time I wanted to try something a bit different and I painted the bottom part.

I ended up using the original hardware because of the latch. I really don't think anyone makes them anymore. And it was in great shape..so back it went.
I did switch out the knob on the single drawer because the one that came with it, simply didn't look right.

So what do you think? I love..and I love the original casters. I hope it finds a good home soon.

We are at the cottage and the neighbours here all know what I do. So when we showed up here they asked me to come look at a table they had. They had it sitting in their garage with tools and crap stuff on it. The base was in amazing condition, but the top was in desperate need of refinishing.
I'm sorry, I didn't take before pics, but imagine it being really roughed up with stuff stuck to it..I'm sure you've seen old work tables like that.
This is how it turned out. I really should show them the results before posting right? Oh well..they will see it today ;)

The wife just wanted to toss it, but the husband was hoping I could save it. I think it's a save :)

Off to do some more work. Going to try something new today, and can't wait. Have a wonderful Friday everyone :)
