P-P-Purple

A couple of weeks ago I was out visiting with a friend of mine and as so often happens we ended up cruising some second hand stores. I was of course on the hunt for interesting and cheap furniture.
I found a lot of really cool pieces, but sadly most were out of the range I was willing to pay.
However when we entered the local Re Store I found this wonderful pine dresser :)

Ok...so I didn't exactly get a pic before I started ripping it apart, but really, I'm rather proud of the fact that I did finally remember to get some semi before pics..lol
I had already started stripping the top. I love these dressers because I feel absolutely no guilt in doing things to them. They aren't all that old, and they paint up really well. Were solidly built and look so much better "after" :)
Simple drawers, but again, really solid :)

I grabbed a can of Opps paint that I had sitting around for a while and thought..what the heck, lets go for it.
This is what came out.

What do you think?
 PURPLE!
With an overall black glaze...but not enough to distract from the purple

And wonderful storage drawers behind the doors.
Wonderful shape to add some interest and I painted the handles a straight black.
This only took two days to sell...she just went to her new home today.
ahhhh on to the next one. Man I love my job :)

Dining set redone.

Wow...what a busy January.
This is my first post this year and for those that follow me, I'm so sorry it's taken this long to get back in the saddle.
We had a fabulous vacation in Belize. I would highly recommend it to anyone who loves adventure.
Here are just a couple of pictures of our time away.

This is our view from our room each day we were there.

I could have easily lived in my bathing suit. It took a total of about 5 min for us to get relaxed after arriving :)
There are a LOT of ruins there, and we only saw a couple of them. We will have to go back for that reason alone ;)

Tired, relaxed and ready to go home
Goodbye Belize....till next time :)

Ok...so on to the reason you are really here. Furniture :)

I've done so many things since coming home and can't possibly cover them all. But I did want to share with you one of my biggest projects.
I can't seem to find any of the "before" pics on my computer. I know I took them and I know I uploaded and edited them. I just can't find the dang things.
So you will have to live with the after pics.
Try if you will to imagine this piece covered in both gold and green velvet, ripped and dirty from years of misuse.
 Chipped and ugly.
 Can't imagine it?
 I can't either anymore.
This set is now ready for it's new home.
Just look at those detailed corners. I'm in love and was seriously eying it up for my own home. Silly me..lol
