A couple of weeks ago I was out visiting with a friend of mine and as so often happens we ended up cruising some second hand stores. I was of course on the hunt for interesting and cheap furniture.
I found a lot of really cool pieces, but sadly most were out of the range I was willing to pay.
However when we entered the local Re Store I found this wonderful pine dresser :)
Ok...so I didn't exactly get a pic before I started ripping it apart, but really, I'm rather proud of the fact that I did finally remember to get some semi before pics..lol
I had already started stripping the top. I love these dressers because I feel absolutely no guilt in doing things to them. They aren't all that old, and they paint up really well. Were solidly built and look so much better "after" :)
Simple drawers, but again, really solid :)
I grabbed a can of Opps paint that I had sitting around for a while and thought..what the heck, lets go for it.
This is what came out.
What do you think?
PURPLE!
With an overall black glaze...but not enough to distract from the purple
And wonderful storage drawers behind the doors.
Wonderful shape to add some interest and I painted the handles a straight black.
This only took two days to sell...she just went to her new home today.
ahhhh on to the next one. Man I love my job :)
