My version of a Herringbone dresser.

Monday morning my husband and I went into a small town close to our cottage. In this town is one of those "out of the house" antique dealers.
We drove by and my eyes almost popped out of my head when I noticed a new addition to his collection on the front porch.
There was this sweet dresser.

I know it's doesn't look all that impressive does it. But I liked the shape and I had an idea :)

I had so much fun stripping it down..ok, not fun, but worth the effort!

And then...time to tape off!
Ohhh right, I put the base paint down first. Are you getting the idea of what I'm going after here? :)

And here she is, all done.

I've never done one like this before, but was so excited by the results. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
This might...just might be the hardest one for me to let go.
There was a LOT of repair needed on the drawers, and one of the legs was badly injured. But now it's as good as new :)

The top is a tiger maple..and brought back to it's original beauty!
The key hole covers and the pulls are all original to the piece, but I added the glass knobs. I thought they suited this piece rather nicely.

It turned out exactly how I had pictured it in my mind. I'm so pleased. Now here is hoping that it doesn't sell quickly!

    1. Hi, I used vinegar. Just let it soak in a bowl for about a day, then scrub it clean. Easy peesy :)

  10. So darling! What a great transformation. And I agree the glass knobs look like they fit perfectly with the piece. I'm seeing a quick sale in its future!

  11. Saw your link at Shabby Creek Cottage. Love the shape of the dresser, and love the color and design combination you chose. It would fit in my turquoise-loving and graphic-loving house very nicely!
